How do I sign a PDF without printing it?
A tenancy agreement, a school permission slip, a job offer or an application form… When a PDF needs your signature, you often have to print it, sign it, scan it and send it back. The Sign PDF tool cuts that loop short: you create your signature on screen and place it on the PDF.
You can create your signature in three ways: by drawing it with your finger or mouse, by typing your name and picking one of the handwriting styles, or by uploading a photo of your signature on white paper. The white background of the photo is removed automatically, so the signature sits on the page with a transparent background.
An important distinction: this tool adds a visual signature, that is, a digital copy of your handwritten signature. It is not a qualified electronic signature under laws such as the EU eIDAS regulation, and it doesn't lock the document against later changes. Where a certificate-based e-signature is required, you'll need to use a certified e-signature service.

Options, privacy and limits
Three methods: Draw, type (three handwriting styles) or upload a photo; black, navy or blue ink.
Wherever you want: You can place up to 60 signatures in a PDF or apply one signature to every page. On rotated and landscape pages, the signature lands exactly where you see it on screen.
Document unchanged: The signature is added on top of the page as an image; the text underneath stays selectable and pages are not re-encoded.
Not a certified e-signature: The signature you add is visual. It isn't a qualified electronic signature (as defined, for example, by the EU eIDAS regulation) and doesn't lock the document against later changes.
Privacy: Your signature is created in your browser, sent only to be added to this PDF and never saved to an account. The signed PDF is deleted from the server within about 10 minutes.
Limits: Up to 25 MB and 5,000 pages per file. For encrypted PDFs, use the Unlock PDF tool first.

Privacy and automatic deletion
Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.
The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is signing a PDF free?
Yes. The tool is free and works without an account. Guests have a 24-hour usage allowance per tool; a free account lets you process more files.
Is this a certified electronic signature?
No. This tool adds an image of your handwritten signature to the PDF. A qualified electronic signature, such as one under the EU eIDAS regulation, is based on a qualified certificate issued by a trust service provider. If the other party accepts a PDF with a visual signature, this tool does the job.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. In the “Draw” tab, you can sign with your finger, then tap the page to place your signature.
How do I use my signature from paper?
Sign a sheet of white paper, take a photo of it and choose it in the “Upload” tab. The white background is removed automatically; a photo taken in good light without shadows gives the cleanest result.
Can I initial every page?
Yes. Place your signature on one page and tick “Add the first signature to every page”; the signature is added in the same position on every page.
Are my signature and files stored?
No. Your signature is created in your browser and sent only to be added to this PDF. Your uploaded PDF is deleted as soon as processing finishes; the signed PDF is kept only so you can download it and is deleted automatically within about 10 minutes.
