Why convert a PDF to Word?
PDF locks a document so it looks the same on every device – which is exactly why it is hard to change. Updating a date in a contract, refreshing an old CV or reusing part of a report is much faster when you convert the PDF to Word instead of retyping it.

Conversion quality and limits
Best with text-based PDFs: Files created with Word, LibreOffice or a browser’s “Save as PDF” keep their paragraphs, headings, tables and images very well.
Complex layouts: Multi-column magazine pages, nested text boxes or unusual fonts may show small differences in spacing and position, so give the document a quick check after converting.
Scanned documents: Pages from a scanner or phone camera are really images. They are placed in Word as pictures and the text cannot be edited. Use the PDF OCR tool to get the text from scanned documents.
Fallback method: If a file cannot be parsed the standard way, its pages are inserted into the Word document as images, so nothing is lost – but that text is not editable.
Size limit: Up to 25 MB per file. Password-protected PDFs may need their password removed first.

Privacy and automatic deletion
Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.
The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

Is converting PDF to Word free?
Yes. The tool is free and works without an account. Guests have a 24-hour usage limit per tool; a free account lets you convert more files.
How long does the conversion take?
Short, text-based documents are usually ready quickly. Files with hundreds of pages or many images take longer; you can follow the progress bar.
What format is the output?
You get a DOCX file that opens in Microsoft Word 2007 or later, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs and WPS Office.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?
The file will be converted, but scanned pages are images, so you will not get editable text in Word. Use the PDF OCR tool to recognise the text.
Are tables and images kept?
In text-based PDFs, tables become Word tables and images are kept as pictures. Borderless tables or tables with merged cells may end up with a slightly different cell layout.
Do you keep my files?
No. The original file is deleted when processing finishes, and the Word file is removed from the server automatically within a few minutes.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so it works on Android, iPhone and any other device without installing an app.
