    Why convert PNG to JPG?

    PNG is an image format that uses lossless compression and supports transparency. It is ideal for logos, drawings and screenshots, but when photos or colour-rich images are saved as PNG, the file size grows quickly. A screenshot of a few megabytes can cause problems as an email attachment, in a form upload or in a messaging app.

    JPG, on the other hand, is designed for photos and colour-rich images and is supported by almost every device, website and app. The PNG to JPG tool converts your images to high-quality JPGs, which usually gives you much smaller files. For a single image you get a JPG directly; for several images, one ZIP containing all the JPGs.

    JPG does not support transparency. That is why transparent areas in your PNG are turned into a white background rather than a black or checkerboard one. You can upload up to 20 images and 25 MB in total at a time.

    How to convert PNG to JPG in 4 steps

    1. Select your PNGs: Drag your images into the area above or click to select them. They can be screenshots, downloaded images or design exports.

    Quality, transparency and limitations

    • High quality, same resolution: Images are saved at JPEG quality 90 and their pixel dimensions do not change. With photos, the difference is invisible to the eye.

    • Sharp text: Because PNGs are mostly screenshots and graphics, chroma subsampling is turned off (4:4:4), so text and thin lines stay crisp in the JPG too.

    • Transparency: JPG cannot contain transparent pixels; transparent and semi-transparent areas are flattened onto a white background. If you want to keep transparency, you can use the JPG/PNG to WEBP tool.

    • How much smaller? For photos and colourful images, a JPG is usually several times smaller than the PNG. For simple graphics with few colours, the difference may be small; such images are already efficient as PNG.

    • Metadata and limitations: EXIF and text information in the image is not copied into the JPG; a colour profile, if present, is kept. For animated PNGs (APNG), only the first frame is used. Up to 20 images and 25 MB in total per conversion; images above 50 megapixels are rejected.

    Privacy and automatic deletion

    Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.

    The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is converting PNG to JPG free?

    Yes. The tool is free and works without an account. Guests have a 24-hour usage allowance per tool; a free account lets you convert more files.

    What happens to the transparent background of a PNG?

    Because the JPG format does not support transparency, transparent areas are turned into a white background. If you need to keep transparency, leave the image as PNG or convert it to WEBP.

    Does converting reduce image quality?

    With photos there is no noticeable loss: the image is saved at the same resolution with JPEG quality 90. Chroma subsampling is turned off to protect text and lines, so screenshots stay sharp as well.

    Can I convert several PNGs at once?

    Yes. You can upload up to 20 images at a time (25 MB in total). When you convert several images, they all download as one ZIP file.

    Why is the JPG file smaller than the PNG?

    PNG stores every pixel losslessly, while JPG compresses by discarding details the human eye doesn't notice. For photos and images with lots of colour gradients, this makes the file noticeably smaller.

    Can I convert iPhone screenshots too?

    Yes. iPhone and Android screenshots are saved as PNG and can be converted to JPG with this tool. For HEIC photos taken with the iPhone camera, use the HEIC to JPG tool instead.

    Are my uploaded images stored?

    No. Your images are deleted from the server as soon as the conversion is finished. The JPG or ZIP file is kept only so you can download it and is deleted automatically within about 10 minutes.
