    Why reduce the size of a photo?

    Online application systems, government portals, school and exam registrations and job application forms often set a limit such as “photo must be no larger than 200 KB” or “maximum 1 MB”. A photo taken with a phone, however, is usually 2–6 MB and can't be uploaded to these forms.

    The Resize Image tool creates a JPG that doesn't exceed the target size you choose (50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 300 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or a value of your own), at the highest quality possible within that limit. When adjusting the quality isn't enough, it scales the image down slightly without distorting it; the result never exceeds the target.

    You can also change the pixel dimensions if you like: 75%, 50%, 25% or a box such as “no larger than 600 × 800 pixels”. The image is fitted into this box with its aspect ratio kept and is never enlarged. JPG, PNG, WEBP and iPhone HEIC photos are supported; you can resize up to 20 images at a time.

    How to resize a photo in 4 steps

    1. Select your images: Drag your JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC files into the area above or click to select them (up to 20 images, 25 MB in total).

    2. Choose the target size: Pick the limit your application asks for (e.g. 200 KB), or choose “Custom” and enter your own value in KB. If you only want to change the dimensions, choose “None”.

    3. Adjust the dimensions if needed: Scale the pixel dimensions down to 75%, 50% or 25%, or choose “Custom” and enter a maximum width and height.

    4. Resize and download: Click “Resize”. For a single image you get the resized file; for several images, one ZIP. The result screen shows the new file size and dimensions.

    Quality, format and limits

    • The target is never exceeded: If you choose 200 KB, the file won't be larger than 200 KB. The tool first adjusts the quality (JPEG quality between 92 and 50, the highest value that fits); if that isn't enough, it scales the image down while keeping its aspect ratio.

    • Format: When you choose a KB target, the result is always a JPG, because JPG quality is the most reliable way to control file size; transparent areas in PNGs become white. If you only change the dimensions, the format is kept (JPG → JPG, PNG → PNG, WEBP → WEBP); HEIC photos are saved as JPG.

    • Dimensions: The percentage options shrink both sides by the same ratio. With “Custom” dimensions, the image is fitted into the width and height you enter with its aspect ratio kept; nothing is cropped and the image is never enlarged. Where exact dimensions are required (e.g. exactly 600 × 800), you need to crop the photo to that aspect ratio first.

    • Privacy: EXIF data (GPS location, device model, date taken) is removed; the phone's orientation information is applied, so the photo stays the right way up.

    • Limits: Up to 20 images and 25 MB in total at a time. The target size can be between 10 and 10,000 KB, and custom dimensions between 16 and 10,000 pixels. Images larger than 50 megapixels are not accepted for security reasons.

    Privacy and automatic deletion

    Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.

    The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is resizing images free?

    Yes. The tool is free and works without an account. Guests have a 24-hour usage allowance per tool; a free account lets you resize more images.

    How do I get a photo under 200 KB?

    Select the image, choose “200 KB” as the target size and click “Resize”. The tool prepares the photo as a JPG at the highest quality that doesn't exceed 200 KB. If a different limit is required, choose “Custom” and enter the value in KB.

    Is it suitable for government portals and application systems?

    Yes. The output is a standard JPG and doesn't exceed the KB limit you choose. If the application also requires specific pixel dimensions, choose “Custom” under “Dimensions” and enter the width and height.

    Will the quality drop a lot?

    The tool picks the highest quality that fits the target. With targets such as 200–500 KB, the difference is usually invisible. With very small targets (e.g. 20–50 KB), the image is also scaled down in pixels; for passport-style and form photos this is usually enough.

    Can I make the dimensions exactly 600 × 800 pixels?

    The tool fits the image into at most 600 × 800 pixels without distorting it; if the photo has a different aspect ratio, one side ends up shorter. The image is not cropped or stretched. If you need exact dimensions, crop the photo to a 3:4 ratio first.

    Can I resize PNG or HEIC photos too?

    Yes. JPG, PNG, WEBP and iPhone HEIC photos are supported. When you choose a KB target, the result is a JPG; if you only change the dimensions, PNG and WEBP keep their format and HEIC is converted to JPG.

    Can I resize several photos at once?

    Yes. You can select up to 20 images at a time (25 MB in total); the target you choose is applied to each one separately and the resized images download as one ZIP file.

    Are my uploaded photos stored?

    No. Your photos are deleted from the server as soon as processing is finished. The resized file is kept only so you can download it and is deleted automatically within about 10 minutes; EXIF data such as location is not added to the file.
