Why add a watermark to a PDF?
A watermark shows a document's status or owner on every page: it stops a draft from being mistaken for the final version, reminds readers that a confidential document must be shared with care, and makes it clear who a copy you've sent belongs to.
The Add Watermark to PDF tool places the text you type over every page. You choose the placement (diagonal, tiled across the page or centred horizontally), the visibility (light, medium, strong) and the colour (grey, red, blue). Besides Turkish characters, text in other scripts such as Arabic and Japanese is drawn correctly too.
The watermark is added on top of the page as a separate layer; the text underneath stays selectable and images don't change. On rotated and landscape pages too, the watermark follows the way the page is displayed.

When is it useful?
Confidential documents: Putting “CONFIDENTIAL” or “INTERNAL” on internal reports and draft contracts.
Drafts: Adding a “DRAFT” watermark so documents that haven't been approved yet aren't mistaken for the final version.

Options, quality and limits
Three placements: Diagonal (large, across the page), tiled (small watermarks repeated over the page) and centred horizontally.
Visibility and colour: Light, medium or strong opacity; grey, red or blue. The text underneath stays readable.
Any script: Turkish characters, Arabic (with its joined letters) and text in other scripts such as Japanese are drawn correctly.
Content underneath unchanged: The watermark is added on top of the page as a separate layer; pages are not re-encoded and text stays selectable.
Not a protection: A watermark is a deterrent, but it can be removed with PDF editing programs and doesn't technically prevent copying. To protect the document, use the Protect PDF tool as well.
Limits: Up to 25 MB and 5,000 pages per file; watermark text up to 60 characters. For encrypted PDFs, use the Unlock PDF tool first.

Privacy and automatic deletion
Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.
The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is adding a watermark to a PDF free?
Yes. The tool is free and works without an account. Guests have a 24-hour usage allowance per tool; a free account lets you process more files.
Does the watermark make the text underneath unreadable?
With “Light” and “Medium” visibility, the text underneath is easy to read. The “Strong” option makes the watermark stand out; even so, the text stays selectable and searchable.
Are special characters and other scripts supported?
Yes. Besides Turkish characters such as ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü, text in scripts such as Arabic and Japanese is drawn correctly too.
Can I add a logo or image watermark?
At the moment, only text watermarks can be added. To add an image, you can use the Edit PDF tool.
Does a watermark protect the document from being copied?
No. A watermark is a deterrent, but it can be removed with PDF editing programs. To protect the document, you can add an opening password and permission restrictions with the Protect PDF tool.
Is my PDF stored?
No. Your uploaded PDF is deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes. The watermarked PDF is kept only so you can download it and is deleted automatically within about 10 minutes.
