When should you convert MP3 to WAV?
Some audio editors, video editing programs, DJ equipment and samplers, and phone and announcement systems accept only WAV files. WAV is a universal format that stores audio uncompressed and can be read by almost any program.
This tool converts your MP3 (as well as M4A, OGG, FLAC and other audio files) to 16-bit PCM WAV. An important note: the detail lost when the MP3 was compressed doesn't come back when you convert to WAV; WAV only puts the audio in a lossless container, and the file gets bigger.
Because WAV files take up about 10 MB per minute, recordings of up to 20 minutes can be converted. You can upload one file of up to 95 MB at a time.

Quality, size and limitations
Quality doesn't come back: WAV is a lossless container, but it can't restore the detail the MP3 discarded during compression. The audio sounds the same as the MP3.
Standard format: The output is 16-bit PCM WAV. The sample rate is kept; rates above 48 kHz are reduced to 48 kHz and more than two channels are mixed down to stereo.
Large file: WAV takes up about 10 MB per minute; a 4 MB MP3 song becomes a WAV of about 40 MB.
Limitations: One file at a time, up to 95 MB and 20 minutes.

Privacy and automatic deletion
Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.
The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.
