Why convert an image to text?
A photo of a document, a screenshot of a table or a notice someone sent you on WhatsApp… When you want to use the text inside, typing it out again takes time and invites mistakes. The Image to Text tool uses OCR (optical character recognition) to read the printed text in an image and turn it into text you can edit and copy.
The recognised text appears on the result screen straight away; paste it anywhere with the “Copy text” button or download it as a TXT file. Choose the language of the text – English, Turkish, German, Spanish or Italian – and accented letters such as é, ñ, ü, ß, ç and ş are recognised correctly; English is always recognised as a second language as well.
JPG, PNG, WEBP and iPhone HEIC photos are supported, and you can upload up to 10 images at a time. Several images are collected in a single text file, with each image's file name at the top of its text.

How to convert an image to text in 3 steps

Choose the language: Pick the language of the text under “Text language” and click “Extract text”.
Copy or download: The recognised text appears on screen; paste it with “Copy text” or download the TXT file. The file is deleted from the server after about 10 minutes.

When is it useful?
Photos of documents: Turn the text in a phone photo of a letter, contract, invoice or ID document into editable text.
Screenshots: Grab the text from a web page, app or presentation that won't let you copy it.
WhatsApp and social media: Turn announcements, lecture notes or listings shared as images into text without retyping them.

Accuracy and limits
Best results: Printed text in sharp, straight, well-lit photos is read with high accuracy. Screenshots usually come out perfect.
Small and compressed images: Downsized photos from WhatsApp and other messaging apps are enlarged automatically before they are read, and phone photos are turned the right way up.
Handwriting: The tool is designed for printed text. Handwriting often can't be read or comes out wrong.
Layout: Text is transferred line by line; tables, columns and formatting (bold, colour, font) become plain text. We recommend checking the result before you use it.
For PDFs: If you have a scanned PDF, the PDF OCR tool turns it into a PDF you can search and copy text from.

Privacy and automatic deletion
Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.
The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is converting images to text free?
Yes. The tool is free and works without an account. Guests have a 24-hour usage allowance per tool; a free account lets you convert more images.
Which languages and letters does it recognise?
English, Turkish, German, Spanish and Italian. Choose the language of your text under “Text language” and accented letters such as é, ñ, ü, ß, ç and ş are recognised correctly; English is always recognised as a second language as well. Text in other scripts, such as Japanese or Arabic, is not supported.
Can I convert handwriting to text?
The tool is designed for printed text. Very neat handwriting may partly work, but handwriting often can't be read or comes out wrong.
Which image formats can I upload?
JPG, PNG, WEBP and iPhone HEIC photos. Up to 10 images at a time, 25 MB in total.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. You can upload up to 10 images together; their text is shown on screen and collected in one TXT file, with each image's file name at the top of its text.
Why is the text wrong or incomplete?
Accuracy drops with blurry, skewed or dark photos and with very small text. Take the photo again straight on, in good light and with the text filling the frame, then try again. Choosing the wrong language can also cause special letters to be misread.
Are my images stored?
No. The images you upload are deleted as soon as the text has been read, and the text file is removed from the server automatically within about 10 minutes.
