What's in the photo?

The ink is separated from the paper; shadows and uneven light are corrected.

Turn it up if faint strokes disappear, down if paper marks remain.

Why should a signature be a transparent PNG?

When you want to add a signature to a PDF, a Word document or a quote form, what you usually have is a phone photo of a signature written on paper. If you paste that photo as it is, a grey or yellowish box shows around the signature and covers the text and lines of the document.

In a transparent PNG only the ink remains; the paper is completely see-through. The signature sits on the document like a real pen signature, and the lines and text underneath stay visible. The same goes for images of company stamps and seals.

Dönüştür.net's tool processes your photo in your browser: it first evens out shadows and uneven lighting on the paper, then separates the ink from the paper, smooths the edges and cleans up small specks. No AI and no server are involved; your photo never leaves your device.

Make a transparent signature in 3 steps

  1. Choose the photo: Choose a photo of your signature or stamp (JPG, PNG, WEBP). For the best result, sign white paper with a dark pen and take the photo in daylight, straight from above.

  2. Check the preview: Drag the comparison line to see the before and after side by side. If faint strokes disappear, turn the sensitivity up; if paper marks remain, turn it down. You can also make the ink black, navy or blue, and rotate or crop the photo.

  3. Download the PNG: Press “Make transparent PNG”. The signature downloads as a transparent PNG with the empty edges trimmed, ready to use in the PDF signing tool or in Word.

Where is a transparent signature useful?

  • Signing PDF documents: Preparing a transparent signature image to add to a contract, petition or quote PDF.

  • Word and Excel templates: Placing the same signature image on invoice, quote or letter templates every time.

  • Stamps and seals: Making a photo of your company stamp transparent for pro forma invoices, delivery notes or quotes.

  • HR paperwork: Adding a signature image neatly to leave, assignment and approval forms.

  • Email signature: Adding a handwritten signature to your email footer.

  • Student work and applications: Adding a clean signature to assignment covers, internship logbooks or application forms.

Tips for good results and limits

  • What it's not for: This tool is made for signatures and stamps on paper and for logos on a solid-colour background. Removing the background from photos with busy backgrounds (people, landscapes, patterned surfaces) needs AI; this tool doesn't do that.

  • Your own signature: Use the tool for your own signature or a stamp you are authorised to use. Using someone else's signature or stamp without permission can have legal consequences.

  • Light and shadow: The tool corrects soft shadows on the paper, light that fades towards one side and yellow lamp light. Hard shadows (from a phone or a hand) can leave traces; it's best to take the photo in daylight without shadows.

  • Lined and squared paper: Light notebook lines are usually removed; darker lines are detected and faded out. If the lines are as dark as the ink, they may not separate completely; use plain white paper if you can.

  • Resolution: The long side of the photo is reduced to at most 4000 pixels; the PNG is the trimmed signature at this resolution. Keep the signature large in the frame so it looks sharp in the document.

  • Privacy: Your photo isn't uploaded; the work happens in your browser and is cleared from memory when you close the tab. The resulting PNG contains no location or camera data (EXIF).

Privacy and automatic deletion

This tool does not send your file to our server: all processing happens in your browser, on your device. The page is served with a security policy (Content-Security-Policy) that technically prevents the file's contents from being sent anywhere; no analytics or advertising scripts run on this page.

The result file is also created on your device and only you download it. It is cleared from the browser's memory when you close the tab or choose “New file”. Our server keeps no file name or content record of this processing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a transparent PNG signature?

It's a PNG image whose background is completely transparent, so only the ink is visible. When you place it on a document, no white or grey box appears around the signature, and the text and lines underneath stay visible.

Does it work with a photo of a stamp or seal?

Yes. Blue, purple or red stamp ink is also separated from the paper and keeps its colour. If the stamp is faint, turn up the sensitivity to bring back the pale parts.

Can I remove a logo's background too?

For logos on a solid-colour background (white, black or a single colour), choose the “Logo” mode. The background colour is detected from the edges, or you can pick it by tapping the background in the preview. It isn't suitable for gradients or photo backgrounds.

Can I change the ink colour?

Yes. You can keep the original colour or make the ink black, navy or blue. This is handy for turning a faint ballpoint signature into a darker colour that reads more clearly.

My signature came out faint or broken. What should I do?

Turn up the sensitivity slider so that lighter tones also count as ink. If paper marks start to appear, turn it back down a little. For very faint pen strokes, the best result comes from signing again with a darker pen and taking a new photo.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens in your browser, on your device; the page comes with a security policy that technically blocks it from connecting anywhere else. When you close the tab, the photo and the PNG are cleared from memory.

How do I add the transparent signature to a PDF?

Upload the PNG you downloaded as your signature image in Dönüştür.net's PDF signing tool and place it wherever you like on the page. In Word, insert it with Insert > Pictures and set the picture's layout to “In Front of Text”.
