What is an OPUS file and why won't it open?
WhatsApp stores voice messages on the phone as files with the .opus extension, and voice messages sent to a computer or by email usually arrive as .opus or .ogg too. OPUS is a modern format that gives good sound in small files, but older players, some cars, music players and editing programs cannot open it.
The OPUS to MP3 tool converts your voice message into an MP3 file that opens on every phone, computer and player. The conversion runs on our server, so you do not need to install any software on your computer or phone.

Sound quality and limits
Sound quality: The MP3 is encoded at about 190 kbps with a variable bit rate. Because voice messages are already compressed, the quality cannot rise above the source, but there is no audible difference in speech.
File size: The MP3 file is larger than the OPUS file; one minute of voice message takes about 1–1.5 MB.
Limits: One file at a time, up to 95 MB and 3 hours. You can convert several voice messages one after another.
Tags: If the recording contains title or artist information, it is copied to the MP3; voice messages usually have none.
Privacy: Your file is sent to our server over an encrypted connection and deleted when the conversion finishes; the MP3 is deleted automatically within about 10 minutes. The processing records contain only the file name, size and type of conversion, never the audio content.
Personal data and the original recording: Chats and voice recordings contain other people's personal data. Use these files only for lawful purposes. Spreading or publishing other people's messages or voices without their consent may be a criminal offence. The converted MP3 file does not replace the original recording; for any official procedure, keep the original file and the device.

Privacy and automatic deletion
Your files are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The original file you upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result file is kept only briefly so you can download it: an automatic clean-up job runs every minute and permanently deletes files older than 10 minutes. We therefore recommend downloading your result as soon as it is ready.
The download link only works for the user or browser session that started the job, and your files are never shared with other users. Our job log stores only details such as the file name, size and type of operation, never the file itself.

How do I save a WhatsApp voice message as a file on iPhone?

Where are WhatsApp voice messages stored on Android?
On most phones they are in the Files app under Android > media > com.whatsapp > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Voice Notes, split into subfolders by date. You can also select the voice message in the chat and email it to yourself with the share icon.
