How do you see the password in a Wi-Fi QR code?

A Wi-Fi QR code carries the network name (SSID), security type and password as plain text. When a phone camera reads the code, it offers to join the network but usually does not show the password. When you need to type the password into a computer, TV or printer by hand, this page makes the contents of the code readable.

This tool does not crack or guess any password; it only shows information that is already written inside the QR code you have. Anyone who can scan the code can get the same information, so share a Wi-Fi QR code only with people you trust.

The code is read on your device: the photo or screenshot is not sent to our server. The password is masked with dots until you press “Show”, and you do not have to reveal it to copy it.

02

See a Wi-Fi password in 3 steps

  1. Find the code: On Android, Settings › Network & internet › Wi-Fi › your connected network › Share shows the QR code; on routers, the code is usually on the label underneath.

  2. Add the image: Drop the screenshot or the photo of the label on this page, or paste it with Ctrl+V.

  3. Get the password: The network name and security type appear right away; reveal the password with “Show” or copy it directly.

03

When is it useful?

  • Connecting a new device: To type the password of a network saved on your phone into a laptop, smart TV or printer.

  • Router label: To read the network name and password from the QR code when the small print on the label is hard to read.

  • Guest network card: To transfer the details on a Wi-Fi card you were given at a café or office to a device that cannot scan QR codes.

  • Checking: To make sure a Wi-Fi QR code you made yourself carries the right network name and password before you print it.

Ethics, security and limits

  • Authorised networks only: Use this page only for your own network or networks you are allowed to use. Connecting to a network without permission is a criminal offence in many countries (in Türkiye, for example, under Article 243 of the Turkish Penal Code on unauthorised access to an IT system).

  • The password is in the code: A Wi-Fi QR code does not hide the password; anyone who sees the code can read it. Do not share the code on social media or anywhere public.

  • Security types: WPA/WPA2 is the common type today, and WPA3 is newer. WEP is outdated and easy to crack; if your network still uses WEP, switch to WPA2 or WPA3 in your router settings.

  • Enterprise networks: On networks that ask for a username (WPA2-Enterprise), the QR code only carries the network details; your account password is not in the code.

  • Hidden network: If the code marks the network as hidden, it will not appear in the network list; you need to type the network name by hand when connecting.

Privacy and automatic deletion

This tool does not send your file to our server: all processing happens in your browser, on your device. The page is served with a security policy (Content-Security-Policy) that technically prevents the file's contents from being sent anywhere; no analytics or advertising scripts run on this page.

The result file is also created on your device and only you download it. It is cleared from the browser's memory when you close the tab or choose “New file”. Our server keeps no file name or content record of this processing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get the Wi-Fi password from a QR code?

Drop a photo or screenshot of the QR code on this page. The network name, security type and password appear on separate lines; the password stays hidden until you press “Show” and can be copied with one tap.

Where do I find the Wi-Fi QR code on Android?

On Android 10 and later, go to Settings › Network & internet › Wi-Fi, choose your connected network and tap Share; after you confirm your screen lock, the QR code appears. On Samsung phones there is a “QR code” button in the network's settings. Take a screenshot of this screen and read it here.

How do I see the Wi-Fi password on an iPhone?

On iOS 16 and later, go to Settings › Wi-Fi, tap (i) next to the network, then tap Password and confirm with Face ID or your passcode to see it. You can also read a screenshot of a Wi-Fi QR code someone sent you on this page.

Can I find someone else's Wi-Fi password with this tool?

No. The tool does not crack passwords; it only shows what is already written inside the QR code you have. Connecting to a network without permission can be a criminal offence; please use it only for your own network or networks you are allowed to use.

The code scans, but the device won't connect. Why?

The password may have been changed on the router, so the code still carries the old one. Your device may not support WPA3, or the network may be hidden, in which case its name has to be typed by hand. Check the current password in your router's settings.

What do WPA, WPA3 and WEP mean?

They are the network's encryption type. WPA/WPA2 is the most common today, and WPA3 is newer and stronger. WEP is very old and can be cracked within minutes; if your code shows WEP, we recommend switching to WPA2 or WPA3 in your router settings.

Is the password sent anywhere?

No. The QR code is read in your browser, and neither the image nor the password leaves your device; the page is served so that it cannot connect to the outside, and there are no analytics scripts on this page.
