How do you read a QR code in a PDF?

Turkish e-invoices (e-Fatura and e-Arşiv), plane and event tickets, e-Devlet documents (from Türkiye's e-government portal) and some contracts come with a QR code. When the code is inside a PDF, scanning it with a phone means turning the screen around or printing the page. This tool reads the PDF directly: when you drop the file, the pages are rendered one by one in your browser and every code on each page is found.

The result shows each code's content, type and the page it is on. For e-Fatura QR codes, the invoice number, date, the seller's and buyer's tax IDs, the amount payable and the ETTN (the invoice's unique ID) are shown on separate lines. For codes that carry a link, the domain is shown in bold; the link is never opened automatically.

The PDF is not sent to our server; the pages are rendered and read on your device. The first 50 pages are scanned; password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.

Read a QR code in a PDF in 3 steps

  1. Drop the PDF: Drag or choose the file; up to 25 MB.

  2. The pages are scanned: The first 50 pages are rendered in turn and the QR codes and barcodes on each page are found; a progress bar shows which page is being scanned.

  3. Get the content: Each code's page number, type and content are listed. Copy them one by one, or all at once with “Copy all”.

03

When is it useful?

  • e-Fatura and e-Arşiv: To quickly read the number, date, amount and ETTN carried by the QR code on a Turkish e-invoice.

  • Tickets and bookings: To check the content of the code on a plane, train or event ticket.

  • Documents and contracts: To see where the verification link in a letter from a public authority or in a contract leads, without opening it.

  • Multi-page files: To list all the codes in a label, inventory or catalogue PDF in one go.

  • PDFs sent by email: To see where the QR code in a PDF from a sender you don't know would take you, without opening the link.

04

Reading, safety and limits

  • Page limit: The first 50 pages are scanned. For a longer file, split off the pages with the codes and try them as a separate PDF.

  • Resolution: Pages are rendered at about 200 dpi, which is enough for the small QR codes on invoices. If the code in a scanned document is blurry, it may not be readable.

  • Password-protected PDFs: PDFs with an open password cannot be read. If you know the password, remove it first.

  • e-Fatura QR code: The details in the QR code do not prove that the invoice is genuine or valid; verify the invoice with the query service of GİB (the Turkish Revenue Administration) or with the company that issued it.

  • Links: Links in the PDF are never opened automatically; the domain and any warning signs are shown.

Privacy and automatic deletion

This tool does not send your file to our server: all processing happens in your browser, on your device. The page is served with a security policy (Content-Security-Policy) that technically prevents the file's contents from being sent anywhere; no analytics or advertising scripts run on this page.

The result file is also created on your device and only you download it. It is cleared from the browser's memory when you close the tab or choose “New file”. Our server keeps no file name or content record of this processing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read a QR code in a PDF without a phone?

Drop the PDF file on this page. The pages are rendered in your browser and every QR code and barcode on each page is found; the content and page number are listed. No phone or app is needed.

What does an e-Fatura QR code contain?

The QR code in GİB format, used on Turkish e-invoices, carries the invoice number and date, the seller's and buyer's tax ID or Turkish ID number (VKN/TCKN), the amounts, the currency and the ETTN. The tool shows these on separate lines; this information does not prove that the invoice is valid.

How many pages can be read?

The first 50 pages are scanned, and the file can be up to 25 MB. If the code is after page 50, split the PDF and drop those pages as a separate file.

Can the QR code in a password-protected PDF be read?

PDFs with an open password cannot be opened. If you know the password, open the PDF in a PDF reader, save it without the password, then drop it here.

Can the code in a scanned PDF (from a document scanner) be read?

Usually, yes. If the code is sharp and large enough, it is read; for blurry, skewed or faded scans the tool scans the image again at different scales, but success is not guaranteed.

Is the PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is opened and read in your browser and is not sent to our server. The page is served so that it cannot connect to the outside, and no analytics scripts are loaded on this page.
