What photo sizes does Instagram use?
Instagram shows feed posts 1080 pixels wide: a square post is 1080 × 1080, a portrait post in 4:5 is 1080 × 1350, and stories and Reels in 9:16 are 1080 × 1920 pixels. When your photo doesn't match these ratios, the app crops it.
To share a wide landscape or a long screenshot without cropping, you need to fit the photo into one of these frames and fill the remaining space. The most natural-looking way is to use a blurred copy of the photo as the background.
This page opens with the 4:5 post ratio; one tap switches to square or 9:16 story size. The photos are processed in your browser, and you can prepare up to 20 photos at once.

Resize a photo for Instagram in 3 steps
Choose the photos: Choose the photo you want to share, or up to 20 photos.
Choose the Instagram size: 4:5 portrait post, 1:1 square or 9:16 story / Reels. Make the background blurred, a solid colour, white or black, and drag the photo into position.
Download and share: Press “Fit” and download the file. Because the photo already has the right ratio, Instagram won't crop it.

Who uses it, and for what?
Landscape photo as a portrait post: Showing a landscape or group photo in full in a 4:5 post.
The whole photo in a story: Putting a regular photo into a 9:16 story with a blurred background above and below.
Carousel posts: Bringing photos of different ratios to the same ratio so the carousel flows without breaks.
Product and menu photos: Sharing products with the same background colour for a tidy business feed.
Screenshots and posters: Sharing a long screenshot or a poster without cutting off any text.
Reels cover: Preparing a cover image in 9:16 size.

Sizes and tips
Which ratio to choose: 4:5 takes up the most space in the feed. The profile grid shows posts in a portrait preview, so keep the important part in the middle.
Safe area in stories: In a 9:16 story, the profile row at the top and the reply box at the bottom cover part of the photo; keep text in the middle area.
Quality: The output is exactly 1080 pixels wide, the size Instagram displays. JPG is saved at high quality (0.9).
Batch processing: Up to 20 photos are prepared with the same ratio and background and download as one ZIP. You can set the position of each photo separately.
Privacy: Your photos aren't uploaded; the resulting files contain no location or camera data (EXIF).

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pixels is an Instagram post?
A square post is 1080 × 1080, a portrait post (4:5) is 1080 × 1350 and a landscape post (1.91:1) is 1080 × 566 pixels. This tool produces square and 4:5 exactly; for landscape posts you can use 16:9 or a custom ratio.
What is the Instagram story size?
Stories and Reels are 1080 × 1920 pixels in a 9:16 ratio. To bring a regular photo to this size without cropping, choose 9:16; the space above and below is filled with a blurred background.
How do I post a photo to Instagram without it being cropped?
First fit the photo to 4:5 or 1:1 here, then share the file you downloaded. Since the ratio already fits, Instagram won't crop it; don't zoom in on the posting screen.
Can I prepare several photos at once?
Yes, you can choose up to 20 photos. They all get the same ratio and background and download as a single ZIP file.
Will I lose quality?
The output is a high-quality JPG at the 1080-pixel width Instagram uses; Instagram still applies its own compression when you upload. Uploading a larger photo doesn't improve the visible quality.
Are my photos sent anywhere?
No. The work happens in your browser; the photos aren't uploaded to a server and the resulting files contain no location data.
